This is the Phil Cobb signature model 3137/2 PCL Challenger II from B & S in Germany in excellent condition. Phil Cobb is currently the principal trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra. The Phil Cobb Challenger II has become very popular in the U.K. and across Europe, but is not availble in the U.S.
It differs from the standard B & S Challenger II 3137/2 in at least a couple of ways. One is its unique Phil Cobb designed leadpipe and the other is its 1st valve trigger. It has a .459" (ML) bore, a standard weight, hand hammered #37 bell made from one-piece of yellow brass and the valves are monel. The B & S seems lighter, better responding and a little brighter sounding than a standard weight Bach 37 Stradivarius.
The Phil Cobb Challenger II sells in Europe for over $3300.
