Here is a rare lightly restored 1948 (S/N 168xxx) Martin Committee DeLuxe Bb Cornet! We have very little information about this specific Imperial-wrap Committee model. We replaced the leadpipe and receiver from a donor (non-DeLuxe) Committee cornet, but everything else (other than the first finger ring) seems to be original and untouched! This Martin has regular waterkeys instead of the side waterkey on regular Committees. Also, the slides as well as the valve balusters are nickel, but the bell does not have the deluxe engraving that normally comes with. Regardless. the cornet plays really well! The leadpipe has very minor red rots but we have stopped the process worsening. The valve casing to bell knuckle had a crack and is filled with solder so that is no longer a problem. The valves might have been replated, but if they're original, they are lightning quick and still have great compression! We have just relacquered the instrument so it looks as nice as it plays!
