Here is a super (get it?) rare Olds Super Tenor Trombone in great condition! The bell and slides have two serial numbers but they're both S/N 11xxx which means the trombone was made in 1938! The trombone is in excellent shape, featuring a 7" red brass bell and .485/.500 dual bore fluted handslide. We did a minor restoration, including taking out dents, polish and relacquer but without sanding and buffing scratches out due to the already thin materials. It looks as good as it plays! The world-famous Olds fluted slides works like a charm and in stellar condition! The early Supers do not have a slide or bell lock, but a pressure fit instead. Comes with original silver lyre holder as well as deluxe Lifton case!
Here's what Olds said about the Super trombone in its 1939 catalog:
"Jewel-like in its sparkling beauty, graceful design and meticulous workmanship, the Olds Super model has won the highest praise from the finest trombonists of all countries. The streamlined braces make it really comfortable to hold, eliminating fatigue on a long job; and the spun reinforcing band around the bell holds fortissimo power without blasting. Designed especially for the exacting demands of playing present-day arrangements... particularly with the larger radio and theatre orchestras where the utmost in rich tonal quality is required."
