Benge 3X

A fantastic Benge 3X from 1953 right when Benge moved to Burbank. This particular horn has gotten refinished in a gold colored lacquer at some point and it has just come back from getting a valve job. There is a patch on the backside of the valve casing on the bell knuckle as pictured. The horn plays with the classic Benge sound with smooth valve and slide action and is perfect for players and collectors alike. This horn does not come with a case.

From Benge: These Burbank horns are really the flowering of the Benge production and are nearly uniformly good players (with the possible exception of some with quite flat D's on the fourth line). They are still highly desirable and I imagine most of the production is still being played by somebody somewhere. There is an active market in these horns and there are always some for sale and someone eagerly willing to buy them. I have the famous catalog from the period of the 1969 price list, which includes a full color back cover picturing Herb Alpert (in his TJB days) as well as pictures and endorsements from dozens of professional players
